How to choose your first pointer
Start with something simple and comfortable to hold. A good pointer should be easy to switch on and off and have a soft, steady beam.

First, always point the dot at the floor or the wall, never toward a face. Second, keep sessions short and playful. Third, end with a treat or a favourite toy so your cat feels satisfied and has something real to catch.
The dot moves quickly, hides suddenly and never fights back. That combination triggers every hunting instinct a cat has. It is exciting, harmless and very good exercise when used responsibly.
